Alex Osborn is a freelance writer for IGN. For our thoughts on the co-op heist shooter series, read IGNs PayDay 2 review. One of those videos will be the legacy with Payday 3 and what’s beyond. Last year, Starbreeze secured the rights to the PayDay franchise from its former publisher 505 Games and confirmed that a third installment was on the way.

This month starting on October 20, 2021, we’ll get some videos highlighting the ten years of Payday. We’re bound to see new features and mechanics outside of visual upgrades. While we may have more than a year to wait before getting our hands on this game, Payday fans are likely interested in seeing what has changed from the previous two installments. But we know it’s a project that Starbreeze Studios was hoping to see come out sometime within 2022 or 2023. Thats a generous enough prediction, for sure, but OVERKILLs had a rocky couple of years, and any sort of reassurance is more than welcome in our book. Now we’re getting ready for the next installment, Payday 3. According to previous information which youre probably aware of, Payday 3 is supposed to come out by 2023. Fans have been replaying some big scores for two video game installments. But, of course, you have law enforcement to worry about. It's a complex legal situation, but we're definitely hoping that Payday 3 won't pull the short straw this time around. Players will work together to perform different heists and attempt to escape the area with the goods. Recently the studio has taken to the internet and provided a blog post alerting fans of the franchise’s anniversary and promises that details will come out this month for the next installment. Fortunately, that’s the thoughts of publisher Starbreeze Studios as well. Likewise, the franchise recently hit its 10th anniversary, so what better to highlight the IP than by offering fans an insight into what’s next. Payday 3's existence was confirmed as far back as 2016, but this new tweet adds that the game is currently in the design phase, and is being built within the Unreal Engine. Fans have enjoyed these two video game installments. The game is planned to release in 2023.The Payday franchise is a big one. Payday 3 will be developed using Unreal Engine 5. In March 2021, Koch Media committed to pay €50 million to assist in the game's development and marketing, including more than 18 months of post-launch support using the games as a service model. Publisher Starbreeze Studios announced in May 2016 that Payday 3 was in development at Overkill Software, after Starbreeze acquired the rights to the intellectual property for around US$30 million. Payday 3 will take place in the 2020s, intended to add more depth to the Payday Gang's crimes with game-changing differences like more advanced surveillance or the rise of cryptocurrency. The company will support the developers with more than 50 million euros to finance the games development and marketing campaign.
Payday 3 confirmed full#
The team has just announced the signing of a publishing deal with Koch Media. Starbreeze, the company behind the heist-shooter Payday: The Heist and its sequel, has acquired full rights to the franchise, and another is on the way.

The first mission will take place at the "Gold & Sharke Incorporated" bank. Starbreeze managed to secure the future of the PayDay 3 project. The original crew of characters originating from Payday: The Heist ("Dallas", "Chains", "Wolf", and "Hoxton") will be in Payday 3, and the game will take place mainly in New York. The game will take place after the ending of Payday 2 where the heisters went separate ways and left their lives of crime, but something is to re-motivate the Payday Gang to continue crime. The company estimates that these cash flows will be positive, based on expected new publishing agreements in 2020 and an expected release of PAYDAY 3 in 20222023.
